Why it matters
A CRM is the system of record for your customers. Contacts, source of each enquiry, conversations, deals, follow-up tasks and outcomes live in one place instead of in phones and inboxes. That has two payoffs for an owner. Nothing falls through the cracks when someone is on leave, and, for the first time, you can trace revenue back to the campaign that started it. Without that link, advertising is judged on clicks and form fills.
A CRM is a habit before it is software. A tool nobody updates is an expensive address book.
How to choose one
You do not need the biggest platform. Compare options on:
- Fit with how you sell. Deals with stages (software, real estate, admissions) or bookings and repeat visits (clinics, restaurants).
- Channels. Does it capture web forms, ads leads, calls, email and WhatsApp messages without copy-paste?
- Automation. Reminders, follow-ups, assignment rules and scoring that your team will actually use.
- Reporting. Can it show source to revenue, not just a list of leads?
- Data ownership. Can you export everything, and who can see what?
- Total cost, including per-user fees, add-ons and setup. Pricing changes often, so check vendors' current pages.
BridgeE has no partnership with any CRM vendor, so the recommendation follows your process.
Common mistakes
- Buying before mapping the process. Write down the stages first, then configure.
- Over-customising on day one.
- No owner and no rules, so fields stay blank.
- Leaving WhatsApp and phone calls outside it.
Setting this up is the core of CRM and marketing automation and of the wider GTM engineering work.
