AI can’t tell what you are
Vague copy (“we empower growth”) and almost no lists, reviews or directories vouching for you. The most common cause.
Buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI for a shortlist. We get you on it and show you, every Monday, how often you’re named.
AI SEO (also called AEO and GEO) is the work of making AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews understand your business and recommend it. AEO is about being the direct answer; GEO is about being one of the sources an answer cites. Both build on technical SEO. They don’t replace it.
That’s why we run it with your SEO services as one plan: citations, not just rankings, on the same foundations.
| SEO | AEO | GEO | |
|---|---|---|---|
| The goal | Rank your pages in search results | Be the direct answer to a question | Be a source AI answers cite and recommend |
| Where it shows | Google’s results and Maps | Featured snippets, voice, AI Overviews | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, AI Mode |
| What we measure | Rankings, clicks and leads | Answers held for target questions | Recommendation share across repeated runs |
They search first. An assistant rewrites your buyer’s question into a few web searches, reads the top pages for each (often lists, reviews and service pages), then summarises and cites them. You’re named when you’re on those pages, described the same way everywhere, and easy to quote.
A buyer asks: “which agencies offer AI SEO in India?”
It rewrites that into web searches (query fan-out). Ours: “best AI SEO agencies in India 2024”.
Here, 15 sites: mostly small agency pages and “best agencies” lists. Reviews, directories, Reddit and YouTube count too.
You’re named only if you’re on those pages, with the same name, services and location everywhere.
Vague copy (“we empower growth”) and almost no lists, reviews or directories vouching for you. The most common cause.
A Cloudflare or security-plugin default can shut out GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot. Five minutes to check.
We start from how your buyers talk: 40–60 real questions per market, run on six assistants, 3–5 times each.
We build the question set from sales calls, enquiry forms, Search Console, People also ask, Reddit and competitor FAQs, then sort it into five buckets.
One plain sentence about what you do, for whom and where, on your site and every profile. Plus a cleanup of your local SEO and Google Business Profile.
Each page opens with a direct answer an assistant can quote, then the detail. It’s content marketing built from real buyer questions.
Assistants trust what others say about you. We get you onto the directories, review sites and “best X” lists their searches return.
The full set, on every assistant, with the same number of runs as week 1. You see what moved, what didn’t, and what we do next.
The assistants we test on, and where we read and fix the signals. We work in your Cloudflare, Search Console and listing accounts, and you keep them.
Every question, 3–5 runs on each.
Search demand, AI referrals and who outranks you.
Cloudflare is where AI crawlers get blocked, or let in.
Recommendation share: the percentage of high-intent buyer questions (category and problem) where an assistant names you as a recommendation. We track it every week, per platform, across repeated runs. Citations and AI traffic come second. Alongside it, we read the “How did you hear about us?” answers on your enquiry form.

Being linked as a source isn’t the same as being recommended to the buyer.
It’s small and badly attributed. Many people read the answer, then search your name.
Our fee depends on four things: how many markets we cover (a city, language or buyer segment), how many buyer questions each market needs, which assistants we track, and how much content and off-site work the gaps call for. The audit comes first, and you see a fixed scope and price in writing before you commit.
The audit itself shows your baseline on six assistants, and who they name instead of you.

Not a fitIf Google can’t find your site yet, start with SEO: assistants mostly quote pages that already rank. And if you need a promised mention by a set date, no one can honestly sell you that.
No. GEO is the work of getting AI assistants to quote and name you, and it sits on top of SEO rather than replacing it. Assistants build answers from pages that search engines already find and rank. So the foundation stays, and GEO adds quotable pages and mentions on the lists, reviews and directories AI reads. One plan covers both.
No. People still search, and AI assistants search too: they run web searches and read the pages that rank. That is why most of this work also lifts your Google SEO: say clearly what you do, and have credible sites vouch for you. It’s not a separate magic channel, and the weekly report tracks both.
AEO, answer engine optimization, is about being the direct answer: the featured snippet, the voice reply, the line Google’s AI Overview quotes. GEO, generative engine optimization, is about being one of the sources ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity cite and recommend. Same toolkit, different scoreboard. We measure both through recommendation share.
It depends on the platform. Assistants that search the live web, like Perplexity and ChatGPT with search, can change within weeks of a fix. Gemini tends to be slower. What a model knows from training only changes when it’s retrained, often months later. That’s why we report each platform separately, every week.
Usually, AI can’t tell clearly what you are, and few other sites vouch for you: vague copy on your own pages, and little presence on the lists, reviews and directories it reads. Sometimes it’s technical: your site blocks AI crawlers like GPTBot or PerplexityBot through a Cloudflare or plugin default. Check that first; it takes five minutes.
It’s worth having: it’s cheap, and it gives AI tools a clean summary of your site. But it isn’t a switch that gets you recommended. Pages AI crawlers can actually reach, clear answers on them, and the same facts about you everywhere matter far more. We add llms.txt as part of the foundations week.
No, and nobody can honestly promise it: answers change from run to run and every platform decides for itself. What we commit to is the work and the measurement: your question set, the fixes, the pages and the placements, and a weekly count of how often each assistant names you, read across repeated runs.
Six: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot and Claude. Every question in your set runs 3–5 times on each, because the same question can get a different answer a minute later. One screenshot proves nothing; a count across repeated runs does.
Ask them. Add “How did you hear about us?” to your enquiry form, with ChatGPT and AI assistant as options. It’s the most reliable signal you’ll get right now: AI referral traffic in GA4 undercounts, because many people read the answer and then search your name on Google instead of clicking.
Yes. AI search and Google search share a foundation, so we run them as one plan: technical SEO, content, local listings and links, with AI visibility tracked alongside rankings. If Google is where most of your buyers start, begin with our SEO services and add AI search to the same plan.
Send us your site. We run your buyers’ questions through six assistants and show you who they name today, and why.
